The Stone Age is the first age in the game. The player only briefly remains in this age before moving on to the Bronze Age. There is only one technology and it is already researched when the player begins the game.

The Bronze Age is the second age in Forge of Empires and the first age where cultural, goods, great, and military buildings can be built. The Bronze Age includes four provinces to conquer: Dunarsund, Fel Dranghyr, Tyr, and Hymir.

The Iron Age is the third age the player progresses through, and allows research of technologies and building styles that represent Rome in the very early A.D. years. In a good estimate, an average player could reach the Iron Age within the first 2 weeks of game play. The Iron Age includes seven provinces: Badakus, Paruuch, Ruug, Karchagu, East-Nagach, West-Nagach, and Maktaba.

he Early Middle Ages is the fourth age the player progresses through, and allows of technologies and building styles characterized by the predominant use of wood in the structures.

The High Middle Ages is the 5th era in Forge of Empires. This era includes seven large provinces to conquer: Canturia, Breturia, Veletrites, Frathia, Jaims, Mons Suiry, and Moravaria.

The Late Middle Ages is the 6th era in Forge of Empires. This era includes seven provinces to conquer: Cragshire, Eldenborough, Cuttingham, Spearth, Wolvhampton, Four Gallows, and Mount Killmore.

The Colonial Age is the 7th era in Forge of Empires. This era includes eight provinces to conquer: Narcien, Lavignon, Troulope, Lombardeaux, Deuxerres, Varseilles, Pisterrac, and Haulenois. The CA questline is also the last one to use the old world map, which has been in use since the Bronze Age.

The Industrial Age is the 8th era in Forge of Empires. It includes eight provinces to conquer: Okahe, New Cragshire, Rantford, Desperation, Las Penas, St. Marque, Dragon City, and Garrincton. This era introduces the world map, which can be used to access a new continent related to the era's storyline.The new continent map in this age is a reference to the exploration of The United States of America, and the bonus provinces to Canada and Mexico. Overall, the age itself refers to the Industrial Revolution in Great Britain.

The Progressive Era is the 9th era in Forge of Empires. It includes ten provinces to conquer: Havre, Uxrow, Gaelford, Kriegreich, Omoien, Sud, Ostrand, Langenreich, Uceria, and Gorski. This era introduces new challenges, especially in matters of urban planning, being the first in which 2x2 roads are needed in order to build and operate certain buildings.The Progressive Era also introduces new battlefield rules when acquiring sectors by fighting. All units are ranged and the units have different strength and weakness rules when comparing to units in previous eras. In addition, there is battle scaling of which the effective movement and firing range is decreased. Trenches are introduced starting from this era.Unlike previous ages, the defending units of the sectors will not attack Rogues first. This means if the player's attacking army has Rogues in addition to regular units, the regular units will be attacked (and killed, if possible) before the rogues.

The Modern Era is the 10th era in Forge of Empires. This era introduces new challenges, especially in matters of goods production, being the first in which goods of a previous era are needed in order to produce refined ME goods.

The Postmodern Era is the 11th era in Forge of Empires. This era occurs during the 70s and 80s around the late period of the cold war and the collapse of the USSR and the downfall of the Iron Curtain. During this era, the United States became the sole global superpower under the leadership of Presidents Gerald R. Ford, Jimmy Carter, and Ronald Reagan. The military units of this era closely mirror anti-insurgent units used in missions by nations like the United States, United Kingdom, and France.

The Contemporary Era is the twelfth age in Forge of Empires historically representing the 1990's to the present.

The Tomorrow Era is the thirteenth age in Forge of Empires, representing the age directly ahead of us.

The Future Era is the fourteenth age in Forge of Empires. The Future Era is the first era that signals a shift of global attention from the West to Africa. Presumably set around the mid-to-late 21st Century, the Future Era deals with problems such as overpopulation in Africa and climate change. The goods buildings in this age signals a necessitated interest in renewable energy. Many residential buildings imply the future need of sustaining global ecosystems in the face of human expansion and overpopulation, hence the Great Building named the Rainforest Project. The new Solar Roadways signal towards new innovations and scientific breakthroughs. The military buildings of this age, like previous ages, reference the continuing influence of the United States of America on international affairs. The upcoming powers of nations like South Africa, India, and Brazil are also referenced.Finishing the Tomorrow Era map to access the Future Era map, prior to scouting the first Future Era province, Agadar.

The Arctic Future is the fifteenth age in Forge of Empires. It is preceded by the Future Era and followed by the Oceanic Future. The Arctic Future is presumably set at the start of the 22nd Century, a time period full of rapid global socioeconomic change and enormous challenges. Climate Change and overpopulation are issues central to this age. Self-evident in the progression of this age is the assumed shift of global attention to new lands: the Arctic. The goods buildings of this age signify heavy focus on renewable, innovative sources of energy. Most strikingly, the Arctic Future Era is the first age that does not reference a single global power, instead pointing towards a more united global community in the face of challenges. For the first age since the Modern Era, the United States's global influence is waning, and the 22nd Century seems to hand power to global organizations such as the United Nations. The central question of the Arctic Future era is: Will humans survive the 22nd century?

The Oceanic Future is the sixteenth age in Forge of Empires. It involves the player exploring the depths of the ocean.

The Virtual Future is the seventeenth age in Forge of Empires. It involves the player exploring the virtual future that resembles parts of Pangaea.

Space Age Mars is the eighteenth age in Forge of Empires. It involves the player exploring a future human colony on Mars. It follows the Virtual Future.The age consists of two parts: the first, on Earth, and the other on a Mars Colony. When the player researches the next age, the colony on Mars will be disbanded.

Space Age Asteroid Belt is the nineteenth age in Forge of Empires. It involves the player exploring a future human colony on the Asteroid Belt. It follows the Space Age Mars. The age consists of two parts: the first, on Earth, and the other on an Asteroid Belt Colony.

Space Age Venus is the twentieth age in Forge of Empires. It involves the player exploring a future human colony on Venus. It follows the Space Age Asteroid Belt and was released as a whole on April 15, 2021.The age consists of two parts: the first, on Earth, and the other on a Venus Colony.

Space Age Jupiter Moon is the twenty-first age in Forge of Empires. It involves the player exploring a future human colony on Jupiter Moon. It follows the Space Age Venus and was released as a whole on Beta on March 7, 2022.
