Last Friday, I went to CVS Minute Clinic thinking I had a UTI. The nurse practitioner did a dip test with my pee and it turns out, I do in fact have a UTI. She called my OB and I got prescribed antibiotics which I’m taking now. I’m on day 4 or 5 of antibiotics.
I have very bad health anxiety and am freaking out that the infection could reach my kidneys. I’m scared I didn’t catch it in time and it could’ve spread.
My symptoms: Peeing more than usual, pain in my left side that gets sharp but goes away, and a bit of burning when urinating that already went away.
I DO NOT have a fever, nausea, or chills. My urine doesn’t have a foul odor or blood in it.
I’m just scared because of the side pain I’ve been experiencing but I’ve read it’s normal when having a UTI but it’s also normal with a kidney infection so my anxiety is ramped up…
Sorry for the rant, I just want to know if anyone else has been in a similar situation. I’m not done with my antibiotics yet and see my OB in a week.

Hello! Ok long story but hoping this helps…
I felt I had a uti around 5 weeks pregnant.. I was peeing A LOT but only a couple drops… but figured well it’s not burning, so maybe this is just frequent urination being early in pregnancy and all. I went to my 8 week ultra sound (first apt) and turns out I was positive for a bladder infection. My OB was like do you have any UTI symptoms? I was like no not at all.. she says yeah it’s not common to have symptoms of a UTI when pregnant. Anyway, started taking the prescribed medication for the bladder infection called Macrobid. After the first week of taking it, I started going downhill. Feeling really dizzy, the need to faint etc. one day I woke up vomiting, diahrea, chest pain, and feeling the need to faint I went to the ER and ended up in the ICU. I was being treated for sepsis. Main cause: from an untreated UTI.. my kidneys were fine but it led to a massive infection in my blood. Make sure you are taking care of your UTI and following up to ensure you are negative! If you have any pain, you know your body best, better safe then sorry go to urgent care, call you OB, whatever you have to do. Something as small as a UTI can definitely turn into something serious if not treated. Like my story for example! Hope this helps!!
However, any pain I feel in my belly, I have now understood the pain I have when I have gas, the pain I have when I need to use the restroom and ligament pain. It took me a while to understand what pain is what but so far I’ve been spot on…
If you’re feeling an odd pain, it’s worth getting checked out!
